I became a deacon at Calvary Baptist Church, Kingsport, Tenn in the late 1980s under the pastorate of John Coates. I served as a deacon there, then at First Baptist Church of Fort Mill, SC, and now I have served actively for about six years here at Rover Baptist Church. I’ve been a Christian since I was nine years old and have been fortunate to have many spiritual mentors over my 73 years. God has blessed me with the gift of teaching, encouragement, ministry, and hospitality.  He has given Connie and I the opportunity to work with foreign missions on three continents.  We’ve been married for over 50 years. We have one son, married to his wife Lindsay, and two grandchildren, Katie and Jacob.  I enjoy wood working, fishing, gardening, traveling, eating out with friends, and the fellowship of other believers.

Rita and I joined Rover Baptist Church in 1994. I became Sunday School Director in 2011 under Pastor Ronnie Grooms. I was ordained as deacon in March 2017 under Pastor Sam Bullington. Rita and I have been married for over 50 years and have two sons, Jeremy (Bridget) and Drew (Angelina) Sanders. We have four grandchildren and two great-grands. I was saved at 27 years old and was baptized at First Baptist Church of Unionville, Tennessee.
